A strong public school system and comprehensive institutions of higher learning are a hallmark of the Central Susquehanna River Valley region. Dedicated to providing a sound education, the system prepares our children for the 21st century. Employing up-to-date teaching methods and utilizing the latest technology, students of the Central Susquehanna River Valley are well prepared for the demands of tomorrow.

Lewisburg Area School District
The Lewisburg Area School District serves the Lewisburg Borough, Kelly, East Buffalo and Union townships. There are approximately 2,000 students distributed through out 2 elementary schools, a middle and a high school. The structure of the kindergarten is either AM or PM. The elementary schools are set up with one school servicing grades K-3 and one school for grades 4 and 5. The middle school consists of grades 6-8 and the high school, grades 9-12. This school district offers enrichment and gifted programs as well as advanced placement courses. Along with those courses, the school district offers a Tech Ed program for both middle and high school, a ninth grade Diversified Careers and Technologies course, and a business education sequence and affiliations with SUN Tech and Bucknell University. There are numerous extra-curricular activities including various sports and a number of clubs within the community and the school.
Mifflinburg Area School District
The Mifflinburg Area School District serves the boroughs of Mifflinburg, New Berlin, and Hartleton and the townships of Buffalo, Hartley, Lewis, Limestone, Union and West Buffalo. There are six schools in the district --four elementary, one middle, and one high school. The kindergarten structure consists of both AM and PM classes as well as an all-day class with transportation to the morning session and from the afternoon session.
The elementary schools are set up PK-4, the middle school of grades 5-8 and the high school serves grades 9-12. The district offers enrichment and gifted classes, advanced placement courses in chemistry, math, and English, and a variety of sports and fine arts activity clubs for interested students.
SUN Area Career & Technology Center
Students from Mifflinburg, Lewisburg, and other surrounding schools attend SUN Area Career & Technology Center in either grade 11 or 12, on a full-time basis or as ninth and tenth graders who might benefit from an earlier technical education. Adults attend daily as "Prime Time Adults."
Sun Tech Offers "Technician's Curriculum" instruction in 20 different occupational areas comprising seven clusters for more than 120 different career options with tech prep.
SUN Tech courses are cluster-designed to prepare students for future employment and/or education beyond high school. This closely matches the definition of the "technician" in the 21st century. All SUN Tech programs are Tech Prep certified, leading to higher education choices at more than 47 Pennsylvania post-secondary schools.
School to Work
Fostering a strong connection between the public school system and the surrounding communities, the Pennsylvania School-to-Work Program aims to provide students career opportunities outside the classroom. [In an attempt to strengthen the relevance of coursework, the School-to-Work-Program allows students to shadow a workplace mentor during a normal workday.
Post Secondary Education
Several colleges and universities are located within the Central Susquehanna River Valley region. Bucknell University, located in Lewisburg, is an outstanding liberal arts college featuring strong engineering and management programs. Susquehanna University, located in Selinsgrove, prepares students for the "real world" in its renowned school of business. Bloomsburg University and Lycoming College also provide excellent liberal arts programs.

nationally regarded institution offering advanced technology
programs. Combining specialized educational opportunities and
applied technology, Penn College offers bachelors and associate
degrees. Preparing its students to become leaders in a
technologically competent workforce, the Pennsylvania College of
Technology is home to nationally recognized aviation and
avionics instructional facilities, a 180-acre earth science
center, and an acclaimed Plastics and Polymer Engineering
Technology Program.
